At Environmental Action Group of Bowling Green State University, we consider community building a primary element of our 100% Clean Bowling Green campaign. In just one step of many, members of EAG have recently been encouraging all students to write to President Mazey expressing their desire to have our money truly invested in our future in the form of a transition to renewable energy on campus. Students have also been encouraged to join the campaign themselves because we believe everyone has the power to help change the world.

Power Shift New York kicked-off last night, and it was incredible! Co-hosted by Occupy Albany, we had incredible speakers and activists set the stage for the weekend, including Josh Fox of Gasland, Bill McKibben of 350.org, Wenonah Hauter of Food & Water Watch, and Josh Kahn Russell of the Tar Sands Action and more!

We have our work cut out for us, but we also have incredible energy here. As Josh Fox said there's "100,000 gas wells proposed for New York," and Bill McKibben said "this Power Shift is one of the most important because we have to save the Adirondacks and so much more." Check out the Storify story below to see all the highlights through tweets, photos and more. Sneak peak: Bill McKibben playing beach volleyball, and this great article in the Albany Time Union!

If you're reading from afar, sign our petition to Governor Cuomo to say NO fracking, YES green economy, we're delivering it through our action on Monday!

We were able to set up a meeting with the Vice Chancellor, and last Tuesday, 6 students including myself met with the Vice Chancellor, Sustainability Manager, and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Facilities Services.

Last Thursday, as part of 100 Actions for 100% Clean Energy, seven Michigan State University students held a sit-in at their president's office demanding MSU shut down its coal plant and transition to 100% clean energy.

Unfortunately, Michigan State's President Lou Anna K. Simon delivered a weak response to the students' demands. Even though she was in the building, President Simon refused to meet with the students. Instead, she sent them a letter that contained several inaccuracies and stated that she would not commit to 100% clean energy.

Students continued to wait for President Simon to meet with them. When the building closed at 5pm, three students were arrested.
