SWU Summer Internship // Southwest Workers Union

SWU promotes grassroots solutions to climate change and other problems affecting our community. Emerging Leaders Summer Fellowship // Groundswell

The Emerging Leaders Summer Fellowship Program is a 12-week paid fellowship program in support of Groundswell’s clean energy programs. The program’s curriculum includes structured evaluations from staff, a lunch time series of lectures and conversations with leading thinkers in the field, and organization-wide events that get us out and about in the DC area. The fellowship is open to students of color and first-generation students from all majors and areas of study.

Climate Summer // Better Future Project

June 7 - August 16 | throughout New England

New England Climate Summer is an internship program for college students, graduate students, and recent graduates (ages 18–25). Participants travel exclusively by bicycle in small teams across New England. In 2013, Climate Summer teams will be working on existing campaigns against tar sands, natural gas, and coal, as well as supporting local community work.

Ride for the Future // Better Future Project

May 22 - July 30 | Gulf Coast (LA/TX)

A team of 10–15 young leaders will travel exclusively by bicycle from New Orleans to ExxonMobil’s headquarters in Dallas, Texas, to demand that ExxonMobil return its taxpayer subsidies to the people whose health, lives, and communities the industry has harmed. Along the way, riders partner with, learn from, and highlight the work of local leaders who are dealing with the health and climate impacts of fossil fuels and helping to make their communities more resilient. This is a grassroots movement leadership development program.

Spend your summer organizing to fight climate change! You’ll gain in-depth training, hands on experience, and deep relationships that strengthen our movement. Fellowships will offer experience in community organizing, action-planning, event-coordinating, and movement-building workshops. Summer of Solutions

Summer of Solutions // Grand Aspirations

June - August | Multiple Locations

During the Summer of Solutions, you will receive training in community organizing and sustainable community development techniques. You will use these skills to demonstrate the promise of energy efficiency, community-based energy, green industry, local food production, and/or smart design as described in the locations you choose. Beyond the concrete skills you learn, Summer of Solutions will be a really fun community-based experience. It is a great chance to grow with, learn from, and work with other incredible young people and community leaders who are building a better future. Most programs run through the months of June, July, and August though there is variation location to location.
